The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine - Mère-Lachaiselongue Cemetery

The Mère-Lachaiselongue Cemetery was the first large location I've worked on during the development of Blood and Wine. I took over a very early exterior blockout and added the entire underground crypt. Initially it was supposed to be very compact, but thanks to a fruitful cooperation with the assigned quest designer, the cemetery kept on growing and felt better with each iteration.

I spent most of the time on the interior; I had to make sure that the crypt is large enough to feel *a bit* gothic, but at the same time it had to be fairly tight in order to serve as a proper background during the dialogue scenes. Elevation became my chief ally during the blockout: even though the main chamber appears to be a single room, it's in fact divided into three semi-independent areas, seperated with different levels.

Additional credits: Adam Wrotek (the first blockout), Krzysztof Kornatka (mesh support) and Mark Foreman (foliage/terrain work in the cemetery surroundings).
